A Curious Collection of Odds and Ends

A Curious Collection of Odds and Ends is a series of compositions for found percussion.  Exploring various sound world of unconventional instruments, the goal of this collection is to promote accessibility with percussion repertoire.

Percussion solos often require a vast array of expensive and large instruments which may be difficult or outright impossible for students in smaller less funded school programs to perform.  The compositions in A Curious Collection of Odds and Ends all use found instruments that are far easier to acquire and take up less space and resources, making these pieces easier to perform.  This makes them perfect for students from smaller colleges, or ambitious high school students looking for audition pieces for major universities.

selections of A Curious Collection of Odds and Ends (Bottle Bop, Snare(ish), Cast Iron Rondo, and DUCKMODE), were premiered at Michigan State University by Evan Gedert
